The Department of Community Services (DCS) has mandated that all of our staff be trained in the 8 Core Competencies.
The Core Competencies are:
- Medication Awareness
- Fire and Life Safety
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI)
- Individualized Planning
- Behavioural Supports
- Standard First Aid/CPR Level C
- Health and Personal Care
- Food Safety/Food Handlers
We recognize that not everyone is able to acquire these courses in the community so you can be considered for employment without having all of these in place. Sunshine will provide the necessary courses but staff must agree to complete them when they become available.
Besides the Core Competencies, you must have Grade 12 or equivalent and experience in the field of human services.
